TECHNIQUE:: Standing, Tadasana, inhale and separate the legs about one meter. Lift your arms in a straight line with your shoulders, palms down. Exhale and turn right foot 90 degrees to the right and left slightly to the right keeping the left leg stretched and the knee held. Bend the right knee until the thigh and calf are at right angles and the right thigh is parallel to the floor. Place the palm of the right hand on the floor beside the right foot, with the right armpit covering and in contact with the outside of the right knee. Stretch your left arm straight up over your head. Chest, hips and legs should be in one line, for that the chest will have to be open up and back. Stretch all parts of the body, especially the spine, so that the vertebrae and ribs create the sensation that even the skin is stretched.
BENEFITS: This posture tones the ankles, knees and thighs. Develops chest and reduces fat in waist and hips. Relieves sciatica and sore aches. Increases intestinal peritalism and favors evacuation.
By giving physical balance, it also gives us emotional balance, focus and mental clarity. By being a standing posture, it connects us with the earth, stimulates our first chakra that is related to stability, security and rooting. Opening the chest allows us to let go and grow, in addition to opening our heart and raising our qualities.
Being a chest stretching posture, it is an opening posture but at the same time it helps us to work our energetic center of inner joy, healing and love, it helps us to have confidence and stability. It promotes inner strength and concentration.
